Is this how the Brits do it?

I am an American and like the British/English way of punctuation. Am I allowed to do it this way?

Also, are these sentences punctuated as the Brits would do it?

John referred to the story as a 'muffin choker'.

Make sure that the 'a', the 'b', the 'f', and the 'h' are written more clearly.

As for his calling me a 'pendulum swinger', I must honestly say that I am confused.

Thanks.
