Is this free from mistakes?

This book mainly deals with the adventurous trip a boy takes in search of a precious gem. It involves a lot of fighting scenes, which are of course exciting, but what appeals to me more is that he gradually starts to open his heart to the companions who join him while traveling around the world.

Largely it is correct. To be nitpicky, there is a slight awkwardness about the implied subject of "traveling". In the context we expect this to be the boy, but grammatically it seems to be the companions.
