Is this correct? She understood...

I am describing my supervisor in my last job. Do you think this is correct?

She understood that the performance of one affects the performance of the team as a whole.

Is it also okay to say the 'She understands...' even if she was my supervisor in my last job, and just to show that this is her never-changing belief?
