is this correct: "I was faced with a problem today"?

Is this actually correct to say about the past? For example, I have had a problem today but found the solution after all.

Hi. No, the present perfect is not used properly in your sentence. If you are talking about a finished action in the past, past simple has to be used.

Yes, but "to be faced with" is a little more formal than needed for the situation. We are more likely to say, "I had a problem today".
