Is this correct?

Hi. Is this correct? Please comment.

It was now 2 a.m. and the big city had completely surrendered to the night. For a few more hours it would be possible to enjoy the silence before the noise and the rush of the city would return.

That's good. Personally, I don't care for mixing past and present with "It was now..." but it is acceptable. It does pull the past to a kind of current-ish moment. You don't need to change it. I just gave my opinion.
