Is this correct?

I am trying to describe that development applies to a lot of things.

The Oxford English Dictionary defines development as 'the process of developed or being developed’. This definition applies just as much to a biologist’s measuring cell meiosis, an artist’s painting, and an architect’s building as it does a geographer’s understanding of development, and as such development is one of the most pervasive words in the English language.

Does all this make grammatical sense?
