Could someone tell me why the following sentence is wrong( I wrote it in an English test and my teacher crossed it)?

Once I received John’s approval, I will have your request processed

So if I have a past simple in the subordinate I can't have a future in the main sentence therefore I should go with a past tense . Is this what you meant?

Exactly - or sort of.
If the approval has not been received, then you need to use the future in the main clause. If approval has been received, then the past tense is appropriate in both clauses.
Once I received John's approval, I processed your request.
