Is this correct?

I am trying to improve my writing skills, but I have questions and I cannot find the answers online. I'm hoping I can find then here.

In a sentence like:
'I did A, B and C. In addition to this, I also did 1), 2) and 3)'

Does the 'In addition to this' need a comma after it? I was treating is as a weak interuption as I could cut it out

I did A, B and C. I also did 1,2 3.

Top answer

I would write "In addition," (with the comma, without the "to this") if it were mine. With a list of six things, is a bulleted list a possibility?

Hi,

It's a cover letter for a job so I don't want to use bullet points. I'm just trying to break down what I did into smaller lists to it is easer to read. I did a, b, c, 1, 2 and 3 is a big long.

I see. I would never suggest you say "I did a, b, c, d, e, and f" in running text.

Make sure the things you've picked to highlight are directly mapped to the job skills and experience listed in the job announcement. Trying to list six things may be too many. The longer your cover letter, the less likely the details will be read.

Has this example been punctuated ok? I'm trying to practice a range of different things so I really get my head around it.

Ok what about this one. I'm not sure how to punctuate it.

No need to put commas around "due to a technical error." That would just look fussy. The whole thing can be rewritten.

In investigating your account, we found that your online account should have been debited £50.00 on 4 July 2011, but because of a technical error, this did not take place.

Do you want someone to talk to you with phrases like "it has been identifed that"? I don't
