Is this correct?

my uncle bought a brand-new two story house.

Top answer

vutdoan M y uncle bought a brand-new two story house. Grammatically, Ok. But past tense without a time marker somehow seems ( to me) missing some context.

  • vutdoan M y uncle bought a brand-new two story house.
  • Grammatically, Ok.
  • But past tense without a time marker somehow seems ( to me) missing some context.
  • It is better sense to say "my uncle has just bought a brand-new s-story house".
  • Present perfect bypasses this problem.

"Brand new"; there is no dash (-) between "brand" and "new". Otherwise the sentence is just fine.

I would hyphenate both brand-new and two-story since they both modify house:

My uncle bought a brand-new, two-story house.
