Is this correct?

had is past tense, so:

I had to admit that using Plan B was the best choice.

present:

I have to admit that using plan B is the best choice.

Use "better" when comparing:

StarBucks has the BEST coffee.

or

StarBucks is BETTER than Nabob coffee.
