Letter Writing

Is this correct?

I'm basically writing a formal letter to people I've never met.

Which would be more appropriate? "To whom this may concern:" or "Dear Sir or Madam:"?

Top answer

Hi, Dear Sir or Madam. To whom it may concern is only used in more rare and specialized cases. Best wishes, Clive
