Is this conversation OK?

Hi. Is this conversation OK? Can I use either of "could" and "can" in the last sentence and what is the difference between them in this context?

"You talk and talk and talk. Don't you ever get tired of hearing yourself?" (he said as he got up.)

"Where are you going?"

"To the bathroom. Is that OK?"

"Sure. Well, do you want to watch a movie when you get back?"

"OK. But could/can you shut up then?"
