is this considered a metaphor

Would "The roar of the ocean greeted me, as I slammed my hands over my ears. A few seconds later, I had already drifted to my personal happy space, by envisioning earwax beaches and hairy palm trees." be considered an extended metaphor? If not, how could I tweak it to make it one?
