Is this assonance?

I was reading over the following line from Edgar Allan Poe's piece, "The City in the Sea." I believe that it is an example of assonance, hence the successive vowel a, but I'm not entirely sure. I've copied to line below:

"There open fanes and gaping graves"

So my question is simply: is this an example of assonance?
Thanks in advance!
