Hello everybody:p
My friend (not an English native speaker) showed me a report he wrote and told me that it was a good sample of report writing. However, It feels weird when I read it. I think that there are quite many mistakes in it. Unfortunately, I am neither an English native speaker, thus I cannot tell the quality of the writing. Can you guys tell if it is a well-written one?
Here is the sample 'essay'
Given is a line graph analysing the alterations/variations in multiple types of crime in Newport City during the decade (2003-2012).
To start with, the number of burglary incidents was once the maximum figure before 2006. It firstly experienced a mild growth from approximately 3400 in 2003 to the summit at 3750 in 2004. Following this, there was an evident decline to roughly 1200 in 2008. During the last 4 years, several inconsiderable fluctuations can be observed in the data of burglary at around 1400 till 2012.
By contrast, the initial 3 years witnessed a steady stage at nearly 2800 can be seen in the quantity of car theft, followed by an evident drop to over 2000 in the next year (2006). Afterwards, the corresponding data climbed insignificantly to almost 2750 in the end, which outnumbered the statistics of burglary in circa 2006.
To the last point, the quantity of robbery, being consistently the minimum in crime rates, kept fluctuating throughout the entire time period within the range from 500 to 1000.
Overall, the general changing rates of crime indicated a downward tendency.
