Is this all correct?

Is this all correct for past tense when I'm describing a war? Despite millennia after millennia of constant strife, no side had been able to gain even a definitive, permanent advantage over the other. Even with their vast differences, the tanar'ri and the baatezu were surprisingly balanced combatants.

It has other problems: Despite millennia of constant strife, neither side had gained a definitive, permanent advantage over the other. Even with their vast differences, the tanar'ri and the baatezu were very evenly matched combatants.
