Is this active or Passive voice????

1. The letterbox wasn't emptied this morning. - Active?
2. Over one-third of the candidates have failed the exam. Passive?
3. Unfortunately, your car has been badly damaged. Passive
4. The repairs will probably have been completed by 4.30pm. Passive

Hi Welcome to English Forums. Have a look at your sentences again and identify the subject. If it was done by the subject it is active if done by anything else it is passive.

Have a look at your sentences again and identify the subject. If it was done by the subject it is active if done by anything else it is passive. Have a think and then repost your new answers and then I'll help you further.

The voice used in a clause determines whether the subject is doing the action of the verb or is being acted upon by the verb.

Active voice: I walked home yesterday. (The subject, I, is doing the walking).

Passive voice: I was driven home yesterday by my friend's mother. (The subject, I, is being acted upon. Someone else is doing the action of the verb, namely
