Is this accent difficult for natives also?

Hi

I was watching this clip on youtube when I confronted this strange accent--but what surprised me was they supplied subtitles for this speaker. Could you please tell me which accent this is? Would you say the man's accent is difficult for native speakers also?

It starts exactly at 1:03.

sounds Applanchian to me, but you got to ask the locals to verify that, he does speaks the language loosly, vows, rs and so on, but his job through out the years can also meant he picked up accents here and there to sound " experienced", or maybe he simply doesn't has enough teeth....not the worst though, try to talk to my garage guy and you will see what I mean.

its a very distinct South African accent. Americans would have a tough time getting all the words and may have to ask him to repeat a few. I'm not sure if Brits or Aussies would have the same trouble or not.

It's a South African accent, and Americans can usually understand that variety of English quite well.

I think the subtitles were provided because the conditions under which those segments were recorded were less than optimum and because the speaker himself does tend to slur his words a bit.

In my opinion, South African English is very easy to understand, and I could understand 9

My reaction was pretty much identical to Jim's.

I think it's a south african accent too , i watched a documentation some weeks ago and a guy had almost the same accent , so i can compare it with this one .

but the guys in the cage are sick
