Is this a preposition of place?

The horse is jumping over the fence.

Is "over" a preposition of place? It works the same way as "behind" and "front" which I think are also prepositions of place. Right?

Thank you for all the answers. I greatly appreciate your time.
I have one more question:

The woman is climbing onto the sailboat.
The girl is climbing onto the table.

In the sentences above, is "onto" also a preposition of direction/movement?
