After the following verbs:

- look (meaning "appear")
- taste (meaning "have flavour")
- seem
- smell (meaning "have odour")
- feel
- sound

you must normally* use an adverb, not an adjective. Therefore:

- You look stunning in this dress, darling. (not ~~you look stunningly~~)
- The cheesecake tasted delicious. (not: ~~tasted deliciously)~~
- At first, this solution seemed impossible.
- Your socks smell really disguisting, sir!
- I feel so sad about my life.
- The bass guitar sounds so powerful in this song.

** However, when you have the verb to look meanig "to stare, to gaze", the verb to taste meaning "to check the flavour of", the verb to smell meaning "to check the smell of," you do use an adverb:

She looked at me angrily. = She had an angry expression in her eyes when she looked at me. Compare with: She looked angry = It seemed/appeared/I thought that she was angry.

I tasted the cheesecake carefully because it didn't look very fresh. = I checked/sampled the taste of the cake with caution.

The dog was smelling my luggage vigorously. = The dog was putting a lot of effort into it.

* To add insult to injury, it's not all so plain and simple. Normally, we use adverbs to describe an action, to denote a verb:

We ran out of the house immediately.
She boldly went where no man had gone before.

It is however possible to use an adverb to describe an adjective:

I was terribly tired.
It is all incredibly complicated.
Under the table he lay, completely drunk.

Therefore, it is perfectly possible to have sentences like these:

You look stunningly beautiful in this dress, darling. (stunningly goes with beautiful, not with "look")
The cheesecake tasted absolutely delicious (absolutely goes with delicious)
At first, the solution seemed totally impossible.

.... and so on. Adverbs are seemingly easy!
