BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES:
  1. 1. ADVISE THE LORD MAYOR ON HEALTH MATTERS: As a supervisor, all health related issues as it affects the local government area must be related to the city Mayor. These include, all health programs, seminars, workshop and the routine health activities.
  2. 2. SUPERVISE PUBLIC HEALTH PROFESSIONALS AND CLERICAL STAFF AS ASSISGNED: All health workers within the Local Government area are under my supervision, be it directly or indirectly. The clerical staff report to their program managers to the local government doctor.
  3. 3. RESPONSIBLE FOR ASSESSING, PLANNING AND IMPLEMENTING HEALTH PROGRAMS IN THE LOCAL GOVERNMENT AREA: Working out plans and seeking the approval of the City Mayor to assist in financing and executing health programs in the local government area.
  4. 4. ASSURES THAT APPROPRIATE POLICIES, PROCEDURES AND TASKS ARE CREATED AND UPDATED: As part of the smooth running of the council, all health policies and procedures must be followed to achieving the set goals.

  1. 5. ASSIST IN DEVELOPING RECOMMENDATIONS FOR HEALTH WORKERS AND STAFF TRAINING: Training of staff which is one of the key factor for health workers is carried out via the approval of the Lord Mayor for health workers to attend trainings and workshop.
  2. 6. PRODIVES INFORMATION WITHIN SCOPE OF KNOWLEDGE AND STATE MINISTRY OF HEALTH: liaises with the state ministry of health and other NGOs for information on health matters and advise the Mayor accordingly.
  3. 7. ADVICE GROUPS AND COMMUNITIES ON COMMUNITY KEALTH RELATED MATTERS: Ensure that communities within the Local Government Area are sensitized and acquainted with the health programs and the need for them to embrace them.
  4. 8. RESOLVE INQUIRIES, COMPLAINTS, EMERGENCIES OR REQUESTS FOR INFORMATION: inter-staff issues are resolved as well as complaints from members of the public addressed.
  5. 9. SUPERVISES COMMUNITY HEALTHY PROGRAMS AND SERVICES: All health programs are directly supervised and all health centers checked routinely to ensure smooth running and ensuring health programs get to the grass root.


REGULAR MEETINGS:

Attends the Finance and General Purpose Committee meeting as scheduled by the Lord Mayor. Also, plan and attend regular meetings with health workers within the Local Government Area.
