Is this a correct sentence

"If it wasn't for those 6000 signed copies, the album wouldn't have been number 1." Could you help me please, thanks!

Thank so Iit's correct right? I'm writing and essay and I don'want to sound stupid, I've heard many native speakeusing speaking that way so I could've be sure.

It doesn't sound stupid, just not quite as polished (in my opinion) as my version.

Note that one doesn't normally use contractions (e.g. wasn't, wouldn't) in formal writing.
