Is this a correct sentence?

Hello, I only have a quick question: Is it correct to say "This really was an exciting day." My teacher (I'm not a native English speaker) corrected this to "This was really an exciting day." but I'm pretty sure that I've heard "my way" quite a few times...

Thanks in advance for your help

Just a couple of notes on using "really".
"Really" is an adverb which can be placed in different part of a sentence depending on the semantics and construction.
If I say " I really like that motorcycle, I wan to buy it ", I am expressing emphasis on the level of my desire. I will put " really" after "I".

My friend with my said " Yes it [really] looks really nice. b
