Is this a correct sentence?

Hello,

I am a learner of English needing your comments desperately. I ran into the following sentence while reading a webpage (http://bleacherreport.com/articles/753130-nathans-hot-dog-eating-contest-2011-news-predictions-and-tv-info ). Is this a correct sentence? Specifically, I could not actually figure out (!) what the final word "figured" mean. Is this a verb or a past participle, maybe? If so, which phrase is its subject?

"Hopefully Kobayashi can take this year to finally figure out his competitive eating contract situation figured. "

Thanks a lot for your attention.

It is not a correct sentence. It seems to be a multiple editing error. Add 'get' and 'out' to 'figured' and then delete the three words, since the clause structure was subsequently changed by the writer or editor by using 'figure out' instead: It's making for an epic battle next year.

Hi,

"Hopefully Kobayashi can take this year to finally figure out his competitive eating contract situation figured. "

The last word makes no sense. It should just be removed.
