Is this a complete sentence?

"I know how many." This seems like slang to me and I am not sure if I can use this correctly or not.

Also, in questions like "How many apples are there?" the words 'how many' don't ask you to explain a object or a thing like a 'what question' would, rather it is expresses a need to understand if there are many apples or no apples, information talking about the quantity correct?

Just confused is all. Thanks in advanced for the help

B: I have three.

A: I know how many. I want you to tell me about their personalities,
