Is there anything I could do to make this more natural? How would you write it?

Jimmy stood waiting alone at a bus stop on the outskirts of the city, gazing toward the high-rise buildings of the city center towering up a few miles away.

  • " The repetition of "of the city" had to go.
  • "High-rise" is used of apartment buildings, and "towering up" takes care of the height, anyhow.
