Is there any grammatical error?

A disengagement of the government from public funding of state-owned enterprises in certain areas reduces the standards of living in a given country. In fact, the delegation of state-owned enterprises to private firms promotes not the welfare of the population in general but private interests whose characterizing purpose is diametrically opposed to that of the welfare state. The dictates of neoliberalism should not be applied to all countries; in fact, certain countries should avoid it if their purpose is long-term development. The IMF policies are not “well-cut” for providing assistance to poor countries as they claim to do; on the contrary, it seems that they do anything but that. The dictating of policies, the so-called conditionalities, should not be imposed to other countries. That this, politely put, is nonsense is more than evident, given the effect they had on the recipient countries of international donors.

  • " It's very awkward, and doesn't add anything.

I'm not entirely happy with "to delegate to private firms," although I can't find anything better. Perhaps "to assign." "the assignment" rather than "the delegation" (maybe you have a reference confirming that this is the right usage. It doesn't seem to indicate transfer of ownership. I may be wrong. If there's some history of using the te

Hi Wholegrain,
When I look at your paragraph, my first reaction is to wonder whether you can say it in a simpler way. If you can, that would be better. You have made it hard work for the reader.

Best wishes, Clive

"Delegation" is probably alright. I got confused about whether the "ownership" of a government "enterprise" is being "transfered" to an existing private entity or simply the responsibility for it's management. I guess in the case of something like irrigation, the assets of the "enterprise" would be real property and equipment. The funds are coming from the international community whether they g
