Is there any difference between "option" and "functionality" in this context?

1. I built a countdown timer application with a pause and resume option.

2. I built a countdown timer application with a pause and resume functionality.

An option is a choice. It fits the context, but I think 'functionality' might be the word you want. However, to my ear it seems more like an uncountable noun.
