Is there an opposite expression of "to his dismay"?

Is there such an expression that would be the complete opposite of "to his/her dismay"? Something that would express the idea that something/the course of events developed in a way the person desired; the outcome was as they hoped/wanted.
I'm almost CERTAIN there was an expression like that but it's on the tip of my tongue, I really can't remember it.
