is there a word for "today"?

1. Sometimes, I mistakenly throw away today's paper.

"Today" implies that you mistakenly throw away a paper from one specific date in the year. How do I write it so that it sounds like I might do it more than once or that it could happen at any time.

How would you naturally write the bold sentences please? It doesn't seem like I've naturally written them.

Thank you
