I'm trying to find out if a word exists, which describes the following:
During a situation on public transportation, where a person is checking the tickets of those onboard and making sure that they are all valid, they may come across someone without a valid ticket. This person can then either issue a fine or they can decide not to give, if they feel that it is the right thing to do/the person has a good reason for not having a ticket.
Is there a good word for this, for example "The person can show XXX when checking tickets"?
The person who checks tickets is the ticket inspector .
