Submissive implies a negative meaning.

Any synonyms with a positive meaning?

I don't think you're going to find a single word.

It may come down to motivation. Is the person oblivious and just doesn't ask questions? Is he just committed to seeing a good end product and doesn't get distracted by silliness? Has the person been beaten down (figuaratively) so often in the past that he feels it's pointless to suggest improvements or better ways to do things?

Ok, thanks, Grammar Geek.

I guess this part will fit what I am looking for: "Is he just committed to seeing a good end product and doesn't get distracted by silliness?"

Sort of like if someone is asked to do a job, they will get right down to it and not throw a hissy fit. They won't complain why must I do this and why must I do that? Can I do it later, not now? Of course,

Perhaps

He/she is very enthusiastic about his/her job. (That's the best I can think of)

They display an excellent work ethic. I know it's not one word, but I think it's a good choice.

Thank you for the answers.

Wow, I'm surprised by the lack of good answers posted. I needed to answer this for myself and with a little digging came up with:

dilligent, industrious, conscientious (which you already mentioned) and sedulous.

I don't think submissive is the right word. It infers weakness. I'm looking for the same synony. Perhaps cooperative ? I'm trying to describe my son who never complains or asks for help. But he's not weak.
