Is there a pronoun for the noun 'the news'?

Hi everyone,

I have a question. Maybe you can help.

If I want to replace the noun the news with a pronoun which would be correct? It or them?

Example:

Did you hear the news about Tom ? Yes, I heard it.

Do you watch the news on TV? I prefer to listen to them on the radio when I drive. I don't have time for watching them on TV.

These sentences sound a bit strange to me, but I think there must be a possibility to replace this noun with a pronoun. Or maybe it's only posible in some sentences?

Thank you so much.
