is there a end and beginning of a platform?

The 2 words may be incorrect but how would you phrase the sentence?

First class cars are at the beginning/front of the platform not at the end so when people in first class get off, they don't need to walk as much to get the the exits. [is it correct to say 'beginning and front or end of platform?]

Thank you
