Is there a differnece between these two sentences?

I will finish my report by June 5th.

I will have finished my report by June 5th.

Do both sentences indicate that I will have my report done at a time before June 5th?

Thank you for your help!

The first does not quite make it clear whether it will be finished when you wake up on June 5th or when you go to sleep on June 5th, but it is still the more common sentence. The future perfect is rather stiff and formal.
