Is there a difference?

After Canada won the men's hockey championship in Olympic Winter Game, many canadian people said: "I am so proud to be canadian". I think they should say: "I am so proud being canadian". Am I right?

Thank you very much.

Hi, Both sound OK to me. 'Being' is perhaps a litle less formal. Use a capital C.
