Is the word I'm looking for DUE?

Could you tell me if the word I'm looking for is DUE or if you could use some other word.
  • From what I've seen and what has happened to me so far today, It seems like today is DUE to be a nice day for me.
Can you use LATER RATHER THAN SOONER in this context?
  • I finally won a tournament. I thought it be later rather than sooner.
Thank you
