Is the use of the phrase 'over a decade later' correct?

Gunthar was close friends with his fellow knight Angriff Brightblade, and he was saddened when he learned of the man’s death in 335 AC. When Sturm Brightblade, Angriff’s son, arrived in Solamnia over a decade later to begin his training as a knight, Gunthar acted as a sort of father figure to the young man and went far in advancing his claims to his birthright.
