Is the tense of the verb 'say' in the first stanza of the Christmas carol "Mary's Boy Child" properly used?
Here's the first stanza of the Chistmas carol "Mary's Boy Child." Is the the tense of the verb sayin it properly used? 
Long time ago in Bethlehem
So the Holy Bible say,
Mary's boy child Jesus Christ
Was born on Christmas Day.
