Here's the first stanza of the Chistmas carol "Mary's Boy Child." Is the the tense of the verb sayin it properly used? Emotion: thinking

Long time ago in Bethlehem

So the Holy Bible say,

Mary's boy child Jesus Christ

Was born on Christmas Day.
