Is the statement correct?

Hi

Here is from an online dictionary about one of the definitions of 'meet':

to come together with someone without intending. For example, It's always awkward when you meet someone you know but you can't remember their name. Is the usage of 'meet' correct here?

Thank you very much.

Hi MM,
Do you mean that 'meet' can be used to mean you see someone you already know unexpectedly? Thanks a lot.

Yes, that happens; it's just not the usual use. For that we use 'run into' or 'see', for instance.
