Is the sentence natural?

(A man is on an indoor balcony on the 6th floor.)

Eager to get down to his wife, the man jumps to a stack of pallets reaching up from the 4th floor and starts to climb down it.

- Is "reaching" perfectly natural here?

- Is the whole sentence natural and are the events clear?
