Is the sentence grammatically correct?

“He wrote 37 plays among which the famous ones are Romeo and Juliet, Macbeth, Othello, and many more.”

A co-teacher says she has never heard of “famous ones” (one being used this way).

I think the sentence is correct. Your opinion please.

It's a bit of a clumsy sentence but 'famous ones' is quite common. "Do you mix with many actors"? 'Only the famous ones".

It's a bit of a clumsy sentence but 'famous ones' is quite common. "Do you mix with many actors"? 'Only the famous ones". You could omit it altogether also ' ... the famous are Romeo...'
