Is the sentence grammatical and meaningful?

Could you please help me with the below sentence?

"A selfish human may suppress the emotions towards the neighbour or cause them to evaporate, while he rationalizes the facts or adopts various self-centered ways of behaviour."

I am not sure about the bold verbs I have used. My question about the meaning of the verbs suppress/repress in the below link is related to this sentence. I have not received a reply which would help me adequately.

What kind of emotions are suppressed?

Why should a person have emotions towards his neighbor?

Why is the person said to be selfish?

What facts are rationalized?

We don't commonly rationalize facts. Try to say it another
