Is the sentence "a tomato is a vegetable " right in grammar?
Hey there... Which one is right based on grammar and then on meaning:
1.A tomato is a vegetable. (The one I think is right.) 2.A tomato is the vegetable . (The one our teacher thinks is right.)
When i ask him why is the second one right he says its not allowed to use the article "a" with an uncountable noun. But i complain saying that here "vegetable" is a "type" not a "noun"
Top answer
'A tomato is a fruit' is the only right answer. 'Fruit' (and 'vegetable') are either countable or uncountable. Rover
