Is the semi-colon in this sentence being used correctly?

Portrayed as the ideal man, Othello has all the characteristics of greatness; his military power and prowess is outstanding, he has a lovely wife that all envy, he struggled through the hardships of youth to make it to the respectable position he holds, and he believes in honesty and virtue.

Would it be more efficient to separate it into two sentences?

Thanks

No, the semicolon is inappropriate; mostly you need to repunctuate and economize: Portrayed as the ideal man, Othello has all the characteristics of tragic greatness : his military prowess , his lovely wife whom all envy, his youthful struggle to the respectable position he now holds, and his belief in honesty and virtue.
