Is the remark understood?

"How long were you together?"

"We were together for three years, but I never really loved her."

"You didn't?"

"No."

"What's the point then?"

Is the last remark understood to mean "What's the point in being in a relationship then?" or would you write the whole sentence? Thanks.

Yes, but since it is referring to the past it apparently ought to say "What was the point then?"
