Is the line natural?

As I got into the passenger seat, the cab driver gave me a look.

Me: What?

Cab driver: Nothing, I just thought you were gonna sit in the back.

Is the highlighted line completely natural or would you phrase it differently?

It is fine, except "gonna" is not a word. I have yet to see a case where it seems all right to use it. If you want to convey the cab driver's accent, why stop there? "Nuttin. I jist taut chew wuh gunna sit in da back."
