Is the following usage of 'under the name' correct?

He started a company under the name XYZ.
The plant began under the name ABC.

I have found many similar instances.

It began on 14 November 1991 under the name BBC Radio Surrey, later becoming part of BBC Southern Counties Radio, before adopting its present name on 30 March 2009. (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/BBC_Surrey)
