Is the following sentence grammatically correct(esp the commas)

Martin got out of bed, stretched and yawned, after the nights rest.

Top answer

If you put in the needed apostrophe and drop the second comma, the sentence is correct: Martin got out of bed, stretched and yawned after the night's rest. Some people use what is sometimes called the serial comma, and that would give you: Martin got out of bed, stretched, and yawned after the night's rest.

Hi,

You need an apostrophe.

Martin got out of bed, stretched and yawned, after the night's rest.

This is correct grammar, but the use of 'the' means that you expect the listener to already be aware of the night's rest.
