Is the following sentence correct?

I was looking at Quora last week and saw that you had followed the question I had asked"

Shouldn't it be, " I was looking at Quora last week and saw that you followed the question I had asked?"

Top answer

I would say the first version is correct. 'looked' (last week) = recent past 'saw' (last week) = recent past 'followed' (before last week) = older past 'asked' (before it was followed) = older past
